Kuma Kahua Theatre
Honolulu, HI
Harry Wong III, Artistic Director
Gene Schofner, Managing Director

Hawaii's own theatre. Few people are aware of this theatre, which is actually the second oldest Asian American theatre around. As well, it is practically the home for Ed Sakamoto, one of the most prolific Asian American playwrights, who writes almost exclusively about Hawaii.

Their 1998-99 season includes

Da Mayah, an original comedy by Lee Cataluna
Mele Kanikau, one of the late John Kneubuhl's unstaged plays
Island Skin Songs, winner of the 1997 Kumu Playwrighting contest by Sean O'Malley
Flipzoids, Ralph Pena's first play staged in Hawaii
All I Asking for Is My Body, a new adaptation by Milton Muruyama of his classic book
