The Northwest Asian American Theater (NWAAT) is seeking
a highly motivated, team oriented,
motivated person to serve as Artistic Director to lead NWAAT in the Asian
American theatre community.
Duties of Artistic Director:
- Work with aspiring Asian American actors to nurture their
artistic development.
- Artistic Direction - Selects season, supervises the hiring
of directors, designers and production staff.
- Overall responsibility for artistic vision and direction
for the theater.
- Be accountable to the Board of Directors for adherence
to the mission and goals of NWAAT.
- Works with directors, production, design and artistic
staff to maintain overall artistic quality of theatre productions.
- Reads and evaluates scripts for possible productions,
act as dramaturgy.
- Research plays as needed for directors.
- Develop and manage the International Artists Collaboration
Program.
- Work with playwrights on development of new scripts.
- In conjunction with the Business Director promote the
theater throughout the community.
- Seek out and develop the talent of upcoming and aspiring
Asian American artists.
- Represents the theater to media, community and granters.
- Works with the NWAAT Board of Directors in PR and fundraising.
Qualifications:
- Minimum two years experience in program development and
directing artistic theater productions.
- College degree from (4) year university in fine arts
or related degrees.
- Knowledge and experience in Asian American Theatre.
- Ability to work with diverse backgrounds within the Asian
American Community.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication
skills and able to provide leadership to artistic staff and personnel.
