Playwright wins Macarthur "genius" grant

Playwright Han Ong has been named a Fellow of the John D. and Catherine T. Macarthur Foundation. Called the "genius" grant program, the Fellows Program gives fellowships of over $200,000 over five years to execeptionally creative individuals, regrdless of field of endeavor..

Han Ong is an up and coming playwright and performer (guess he's HERE now, given the genius grant). He is noted for his evocative depictions of the realities of life in urban America.His work has been produced extensively in New York (the Public Theatre comes to mind) and includes Bachelor Rat, WOYZECK, Widescreen Verions of the World,and The Chang Fragments.
