Mapa draws nominations

Asian American actor Alec Mapa has been nominated for two Ovation (LA theatre) Awards for his one man show, I Remember Mapa, which played in the Southern California area in 1997. Previously seen in M. Buttefly (and was one of the better actors to play Soong), Mapa developed a one man show that detailed the rise and fall and rise of his fortunes as an Asian American actor in Broadway and Hollywood.

His writing received a nomination for Best Writing of a World Premiere Play or Musical. As well, his acting received a nomination for best lead actor in a play, joining other luminaries as Athol Fugard and Sir Ian McKellen (these are Big Names, folks, which means these nominations aren't just kid stuff)....ß
