Edward Sakamoto's rich and insightful tapestry of Hawaiian characters in ALOHA LAS VEGAS depicts the unique culture and dreams of Pacific Islanders. Inspired by the rising phenomenon of migration from Hawai'i to Las Vegas, ALOHA LAS VEGAS tells the story of widower Wally Fukada, a 65 year old retired baker, as he considers the drastic move from serene island living to the hustle and bustle of "sin city". Wally's family and friends are thrown into a tizzy of conflicting advice and emotions.

Other characters include: June a 41 year old unmarried school teacher, who opposes her father's move; Butch, Wally's impetuous security guard son; "California Harry", a childhood buddy, an enthusiastic believer in fortune and fate; Alvin, a lonely and awkward fish merchant, living with his parents, and in search of love; and more. Hawai'ian born artists will be featured in the cast: Dawn Akiyama, Millie Chow, Carol Honda, Ron Nakahara, Katsumi Nobori, and more. Lighting designer Victor En Yu Tan, a Pan Asian Rep Veteran (INNOCENCE OF GHOSTS, F.O.B., and over 14 others) joins the ALOHA LAS VEGAS design team. Hugh Hanson, previously of RITA'S RESOURCES, will design costumes. Set design by Akira Yoshimura, who has worked extensively with NBC: "Saturday Night Live", "Today", and "Jay Leno Special"; "The Emmy Awards"(FOX).
