Asian American Artists cast for Benefit Performances of Days of Wine and Roses by JP Miller

In the roles that Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick made famous in the film by the same name, American Artists of Asian heritage, John Haggerty and Arista, are playing the lead roles of husband and wife in benefit performances of the award-winning stage play, Days of Wine and Roses by JP Miller, breaking still present stereotypes of Asian American artists being cast only in works that deal with Asian roots or  martial arts.  In Miller’s award-winning play, the characters deal with the challenges of the real world today- denial, alcoholism and the journey to find one’s way in this maelstrom of powerful addictive forces that can challenge love to its core.  However, as the author himself writes, “It is not a story of drunkenness but a story of Love… don’t forget the Roses.”   Multi-talented Director/ Playwright, Tony Macy-Perez takes the helm in this tour de force performance.

**Proceeds from these performances will benefit The Chad Foundation for Athletes and Artists, a nonprofit, charitable organization, “The Gift of Heart and Art.”  The mission of the foundation is to help prevent Sudden Cardiac Death in Athletes through “Free Cardiovascular Screening Programs for High School, College Students and the Impoverished,” and secondarily, to create, produce, and sponsor multi-cultural Art –which celebrate the stories of all heritages, challenging the mind and uplifting the spirit.  Chad is dedicated to showing the inherent diversity of our country - the struggles, joys and dreams of all Americans and provides a format for artists of all heritages. Due to the success of their March 2005 Off-Broadway production of “Days of Wine and Roses,” The Chad Players were invited to perform their production in Atlantic City, NJ at the Dante Hall Performing Arts Center.  The production was sponsored by the “Atlantic Commission on Missing and Abused Children/Department of Family and Youth Services” as the community event of the year to show how substance abuse can have deleterious effects on the family.
