The Bard's theatrical works performed on stage with a distinct desi tadka!

The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged) is a unique show based on ALL of the plays written by William Shakespeare. In this play conceived and written by the Reduced Shakespeare Company of California, three actors attempt to perform all of Shakespeare's plays in one evening. This particular production of this hit show is performed by three Indian men who, it turns out, have never seen a Shakespeare play in their lives.

This one of its kind presentation is directed by Agastya Kohli and features the talents of Ankur Gupta, Bhushan Mehendale and Gurvinder Pal Singh.

Since 2005, Pratidhwani's Drama Wing has presented a number of South Asia centric plays such as Hatyaare and Kanyadaan in Hindi and Everyone Loves a Good Tsunami and most recently, Mother in Another Language in English. This is the first time Pratidhwani is producing a play not written specifically with South Asian characters or themes as its primary focus.

"Pratidhwani's mission is to create performing opportunities for South Asian artists. Typically, Indian –or South Asian – plays tend to be where such opportunities exist. However, I thought, wouldn't it be fun, if we took a play that wasn't written specifically to be performed by Indian actors, and added our own distinct flavor to it. Compleat Works lends itself very well for such re-imagination", Kohli said, when asked why he picked this play for 2012 season.

The production will run August 10th through August 26th at the Ethnic Cultural Theatre (3940 Brooklyn Ave, NE, Seattle, WA) performing Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 4 pm. Tickets are available online through Pratidhwani's website (www.pratidhwani.org/shkspr).
