ReAct Presents a new production ofAngels In America, Part 2: Perestroika the affecting and award-winning Gay Fantasia on National Themes by Tony Kushner
Ethnic Cultural Theatre, July 17 - August 10, 2008: ReAct Theatre, Seattle's only Multi-ethnic Philanthropic Theatre Company continues its 2008 fifteenth anniversary season with a new production of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, Angels In America, Part 2: Perestroika.
Angels In America, Part 2: Perestroika is the riveting drama of America lost to the destructive terror of AIDS, the collapse of morality and the disintegration of tolerance. This "Gay Fantasia on National Themes" is a touching exploration of relationships, sex, religion, politics and ultimately hope. Written in 1994 and set in New York from 1986-1990, it is as poignant today as ever. Perestroika, which contains most of the action of this epic 2-part cycle, picks up immediately where Millenium Approaches left off after introducing the setting and character backgrounds.
The Seattle premiere of Angels In America, Part 2: Perestroika was presented at the Intiman Theatre in 1995. The script for Angels In America, Part 2: Perestroika was recently revised by Kushner and ReAct is excited to present this new revision to Seattle audiences for the first time.
Angels In America, Part 2: Perestroika runs from July 17 - August 10, 2008, playing Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Sundays at 7pm. (Note: there has also been one added performance, on Saturday, August 9th at 2pm. All performances will be held at the wheelchair accessible and air conditioned Ethnic Cultural Theatre located at 3940 Brooklyn Avenue NE, in Seattle's University District.
