Pork Filled Players Goes Down Easy

MULTICULTURAL COMEDY GROUP ATTACKS THE MILLENNIUM!

The Pork Filled Players (PFP) launches an onslaught on the millennium in their new show, (in time capsule form) Goes Down Easy, November 11 to 21, 1999 at the Theatre Off Jackson (409 7th Ave. S.) in Seattle’s International District.

Goes Down Easy comes on the heels of PFP’s show at Washington’s Asian Bar Association and heralds their appearance with John Keister at the 1999 Seattle Sketch Comedy Festival. It continues PFP’s run as Artists in Residence at the Northwest Asian American Theatre, with patented attack-pig assaults on the millennium.

From feng shui ninja assassins to Ace Bentura (Pet Physician) to Imelda Marcos the Shoe Fairy, Goes Down Easy goes reeling through the years to take indiscriminate cheap shots at all aspects of life.

Making their debut for PFP are Wendy Chinn, KC Dupps, Lea Galanter and Tamara Johnson, who lend their diverse talents to the group. They join co-founder/producer/writer Roger Tang (“godfather of Asian American theatre” according to A. Magazine and Tony Award winning playwright David Henry Hwang) and PFP veterans Garrett Penwell, Sharon Holmes and Eric de los Santos.

Performances of Goes Down Easy will be $10 general and $7 for students and seniors. Show times from Thursdays to Saturdays are 8 pm; Sunday show are at 4:30 pm.

People who attend the Repertory Actors’ Theatre’s production of S.A.M I Am can see Goes Down Easy at a $2 discount. Reservations can be made for Goes Down Easy by calling 206/365-0282.

The Pork Filled Players are Seattle’s close approximation of a multicultural/multi-ethnic/multi-you-name-it comedy group. PFP practices the art of sketch comedy with thought provoking original material, exploring under examined viewpoints and characters so that EVERYONE gets the joke.

Using original madcap (though not necessarily zany) material, the Players aim pointed barbs at sacred cows, the bees knees, the cat’s meow and other non-porcine material and aspects of modern life, through humor (hopefully funny) and song (hopefully on key).

The Northwest Asian American Theatre is the premier Asian American theatre in the Northwest, and the second oldest on the continent. Now entering its 27th season, NWAAT’s mission is to discover, create, develop and promote exceptional Asian Pacific Islander and International works, emphasizing the original and innovative.
